We became aware of about a herd of Paint mares & the stallion, by the Ga. Ag. Dept. . After IGPR Rescued 2 of these horses (Pebbles & Wilma) I just couldnt leave the rest on this farm and Now Iron Gait has just saved 23 horses from a bad situation. They were part of a breeding farm operation where they were not being fed & cared for properly. There were NO horses above 3 on body score & most are possibly pregnant. Because of all the wonderful IGPR Supporters, Iron Gait was able to provide 7 babies, 14 mares, a Donkey & a Stallion a new begining to a new way of life knowing what it means to be loved and cherished by their own family :) I can not thank all of you enough for making all of this possible!
ALL of these horses are available for Adoption or Foster. We need help finding them a loving home and a new beginning of life.
We currently have only 6 mares of this herd left to find forever homes
But, now we can desperately use help with hay, feed & vet cost (Shots & Coggins) for all of these horses. PLEASE help us by donating to our hay fund on the left? Or possibly make a donation towards the vet cost , so that we can continue to help all the neglected horses in our Communities & in our State.
Thank you & God Bless!

View Dana Fowles Update story about Randolph the Atlanta Carriage horse rescued by IGP
***We Do Not offer riding in exchange for volunteer work*** Only some horses may be ridable on occasion under close supervision by a IGP representative, and only if the horses are trained, healthy and able. Riders must... be "experienced" riders and sign a waiver. Most of the horses have not been evaluated for riding yet due to weight issues. It is the Sponsor of a particular horse that is able to come care for it and they must be experienced riders to be able to ride. It is yet to be determined if/when Randolph will ever be ridden due to medical issues. But, it will be years at the very least for him to heal.
***View a small video made of Randolph's Rescue provided by Proudeye Media***
***WE HAVE RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT RANDOLPH IS ANEMIC & NEEDING SPECIAL MEDICINES TO CONTROL THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP HIM BY DONATING WHAT YOU CAN TOWARDS HIS MEDICATIONS***
Randolph - was rescued out of Atlanta, he was a victim of Carriage industry neglect. Now safe here to live his years out at Iron Gait. Upon arrival and besides being extremely under weight, after vet check we have found several medical issues wrong with poor Randolph that need attention and corrected. Severe wounds to his hind hooves, extremely swollen rear pasterns, beginning stages of Cushings disease, arthritis in front shoulders & hind quarters. Chronic pastern dermatitis & severe infection on both rear legs. His injury is older approx. 4 months, she says that it must have been a substantial to both his back legs, coronary band, pastern & fetlock to cause the infection on his coronary band seeping into his hooves to cause the cracks. I am to keep him on antibiotics for awhile , if no improvement I will need to get Radio-graph on his legs. Randolph will remain here at Iron Gait for his retirement.
If you would like to help with Randolph's rehabilitation (On going Vet bills, Farrier, Supplements) & retirement cost byDonating to orSponsoring him. Any and All help would be greatly appreciated.
A short news report featuring Iron Gait we are only 1 rescue of thousands trying to help educate our local communities, about the welfare of our local horses. Please watch
ShyAnne - Shy was rescued from a extremely neglectful home. When she arrived she was rated at .5 below a 1 on body scale, saturated with worms, severe rain rot & malnutrition, we did not expect her to make the 7 1/2 trailer ride home. It took a lot of care to get her where she is today and we are still slowly working to get her healthy again and to gain weight. Right when we thought she was out of hot water, she was injured in the pasture. A severe laceration to her vulva severing 3 veins, we then found out she was anemic and we could not get the bleeding to stop. Once again Shy was on deaths door. We had to emergency transport her to UGA where they operated & finally had gotten the bleeding to stop. ShyAnnes stay there was 14 days. She is doing well again and very pampered, loved to no end. ShyAnne will remain here at Iron Gait for constant watch for bleeding of any sort & her early retirement.
If you would like to help with ShyAnnes' retirement cost of daily living, by Donating to or Sponsoring her. Any and All help will be greatly appreciated.
